Created in 1983 on a former sand pit, Val de Seine 78 is a Regional Outdoor and Recreation Base defined by the circular of the State Secretariat for Youth and Sport in March 1975: "A free, lively, open space to the entire population, which offers its users the possibilities of the most varied expression, allowing recreation and sports, cultural, and outdoor recreation in a natural protected environment from noise. "
Val de Seine 78 is a union of local authorities, involving the Regional Council of Ile-de-France, the General Council of Yvelines and the municipalities of Verneuil-sur-Seine, Vernouillet, Triel-sur-Seine and Les Mureaux.
Located along the Seine opposite the Ile de Vaux, with heights of Hautil in the background, Val de Seine 78 is composed of three ponds, Rouillard, Grosse Pierre and Gallardon, which are similar area (about 50 hectares) and have a very good water quality and are full of fish.
Wooded areas in the periphery of the ponds, the bank upgraded trails and footpaths, bridleways and cycle, registering a clear guidance "nature, environment and preservation of the quality of life."
Val de Seine 78 aim's is to become a great park for relaxation and leisure of a new kinds, opened to all.
